The Full Moon illuminated the sky as I made the long trek from Fort Collins to Boulder last Tuesday. The Full Moon is truly the brightest night of the lunar cycle…. Her brightness illuminates our darkness, exposing shadows we tend to want to ignore.

I felt her smile illuminating every cell of my being. She is a “flower moon” and was at her fullest at 7:55 am in Colorado, May 23rd. The Native Americans have another name for her, the “budding moon.”

April showers bring May flowers, hence the “flower/blooming” moon labels.

This Moon is Full in Sagittarius, May 23, 2024. Her effects will be felt weeks afterwards. In astrology, each full moon lines up with a different astrological sign, giving it a special feel. This one is synced with fiery Sagittarius. She occurred when the Sun in Gemini formed an opposition to the Moon in Sagittarius.  This Full Moon really lights up the fire under your butt and emphasis the desire to get going!

This weekend you may feel very busy jumping from barbeques to happy hours to Yoga in the park with your buddies. It also will fill your soul with the sense of freedom to do whatever it is you want.

Sagittarius is the eternal student of the zodiac, forever wandering the globe in search of new knowledge and perspectives. This energy compels us to be curious and leave our comfort zones. (Jill Wintersteen, 5/25/24 Yoga Journal)

Sagittarius also compels us to take leaps of faith, trusting that the best will unfold and reminding us that the Universe is always looking out for us.

We are asked to take a step out of our comfort zone, stop self-sabotaging and not to follow the same familiar path out of fear of the unknown. Fear serves us at crucial times in our lives, but it also blocks our growth.

This energy helps us to focus on the good and cultivate more positive vibrations throughout life. The Full Moon’s energy dares us to make a change, even if we don’t know the outcome, again, knowing the Universe has our back.

Sagittarius teaches us that we can always find the higher meaning in any situation, even if things don’t go according to plan.

Although Sagittarius and Gemini sit in opposition, this Full Moon, they are the most similar. “They both ask us to be curious, widen our perspectives, and connect with others to learn and unlearn.” Their opposition in this Full Moon, offers the opportunity to shed both Gemini’s and Sagittarius’s lower vibrations and embrace the higher ones.
