Do You Talk? Or, Do You Listen?

When was the last time you sat and talked with someone, while looking into their eyes? While breathing in the sound of their voice?

As William Shakespeare said, “The eyes are the window to the soul.” But, how often do we take the time to look into a person’s eyes and truly listen, feel, and hear their soul?

Too often we aren’t able to listen without considering our next response or reacting to what’s being said.

Consider the Dali Lama’s quote-

“When you talk, you are only repeating what you already know. But, if you listen, you may learn something new.”

Not long ago, I had the opportunity to sit and not only listen to someone I truly care for but stare into their eyes. As they talked, I could feel their enthusiasm. As I listened my heart filled with love, as I stared into their eyes, I felt our souls connect. I received so much more from this conversation by being totally present – allowing the energy of our conversation to fill the air around me and I slowly drank it in.

It’s in these moments that we are genuinely living. Our divine energy is purely connecting.

I challenge you, the next time someone, anyone would like to talk, look into their eyes, close your mouth, and let the magic begin…….
