Why, Hello there Full Moon

I just love this picture! So perfect!

Did you notice her? That big beautiful bright ball in the sky on your way to work this morning or on your way home tonight? Say “hello” to the first Full Moon in 2024. She arrived promptly at 12:54 pm, today, January 25.

This Full Moon is also known as a Wolf Moon, because wolves are known to howl more in the Winter to locate packs, define territories, and coordinate hunting according to the Old Farmer’s Almanac.

Also named by Native Americans as the Center Moon (center of winter), the Frost Moon and the Cold Moon.

This Full Moon sits in the house of Leo (passionate and dramatic energy), directly across from the Sun who sits in the house of Aquarius (innovation, independence, and humanitarianism) with a visitor, Pluto (birth & death) who sits right next to the Sun.

So much power in the sky as the Sun casts its bright light and energy onto the face of the moon illuminating its beauty as it lights up the sky.

The Full Moon led me down the long dark path of highway 66 this morning and back again tonight. She feels like an old friend who dropped back in to visit and to keep me company along my travels.

Leo is ruled by the Sun, which reminds us of everything that holds us together. Leo leads with the heart where its messy and complicated, where we house love, regret, joy, happiness, fears, and emotions.

The Full Moon in Leo asks us to embrace all of who we are to the core with love. Take down the masks that we wear in the outside world and be who we are meant to be. By loving ourselves, we then can project that love back into the world.

Pluto, the planet of transformation, has recently moved from the house of Capricorn into Aquarius. It will move back into Capricorn and then make its final move back into Aquarius at the end of the year, where it will stay for the next 21 years.

Expect big expansive changes to occur, not just within yourself, but globally. The changes will be big, “By the end of Pluto’s time in Aquarius, we will have moved away from a society that values individualism and personal accumulation of power in favor of one that supports the collective.” (Lauren Ash)

Change is on the horizon, but remember, change begins with you. The quote that came to mind for me while writing this, “be the change you want to see in the world.” Be you, because you are enough, you are amazing, you are YOU!

With this Full Moon in Leo, embrace yourself, love yourself, and lead a life that reflects that.

Namaste,

Kathleen

  1. thank you for that explanation on the wolf moon. I am just getting into astrological sciences and I’m convinced there is a link to the entirety of humanity we just aren’t aware of. – Mike
